Thank you Gujarat, says PM Modi as BJP set to win all 6 civic bodies

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is well on its course to retain power in all the 6 municipal corporations, winning 409 of the 474 seats.
With BJP on its way to record victory in all 6 municipal corporations of Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed the victory “very special” and said “for a party that has been serving in a state for over 2 decades to record such a phenomenal win is noteworthy.”

“Thank you Gujarat! Results of municipal elections across the state clearly show the unwavering faith people have towards politics of development and good governance,” Modi said in a series of tweets.

“Grateful to the people of the state for trusting BJP yet again. Always an honour to serve Gujarat,” he said.

The Gujarat government”s pro-people policies have positively impacted the entire state, he said.

Congress, the main opposition party, has won only 36 seats. Surat has marked a big change from previous results. Here, Congress has not won a single seat but Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has made impressive inroad by winning 8 seats.
