New Delhi: With strengthening the public health system, clear risk communication and active participation, despite being the most populous state, the Yogi-led Uttar Pradesh has been able to effectively manage the pandemic with a steady decline in number of fresh cases and covid deaths as compared to all other states.
Signalling control over a deadly second wave of coronavirus infection, Uttar Pradesh on Monday recorded less than 25 fresh Covid-19 cases. The Fresh cases have declined by 38,000 from its peak which was 38,055 on April 24. The state has also been able to restrict the daily Covid case-count below 100 for nearly four weeks now.
On the contrary sparsely populated states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Kerala that opted for strict lockdown measures to curb the spread of coronavirus have miserably failed to register any decline in the number of fresh infections and as a result have been reporting 2,000-22,000 Covid cases regularly, which is even more than the Active Caseload in Uttar Pradesh.
Highest recovery rate, lowest positivity rate, highest testing & vaccination
The lesser number of fresh cases on Monday, however, is not because Uttar Pradesh, like other states including Delhi, Maharashtra and Rajasthan, has decreased COVID testing. UP under its stringent T3 testing mechanism-’Trace, Test and Treat’ conducted more than 2.15 Lakh Covid tests in the last 24 hours.
Continuing its positive recovery trend, Uttar Pradesh on Monday also saw as many as 43 Covid-19 patients discharged, adding up to the recovery of 16,85,449 people so far.
Consequently, the daily case positivity rate in Uttar Pradesh too has dipped to 0.01 percent from a high of over 16.84 percent in April. Case positivity rate is the percentage of samples that test positive out of the total numbers of samples evaluated.
At 0.01%, UP records lowest positivity rate in sharp contrast to Kerala
Uttar Pradesh has been showing a much better recovery in terms of low daily positivity rate as compared to several other places with lesser population such as Tamil Nadu (2%), Maharashtra (12.8%), Andhra Pradesh (8%), and Kerala (13.87%).
As a result of swift measures, micro-planning, alertness and an aggressive approach to contain the virus, Uttar Pradesh has recorded a decline by over 99 percent in the number of active covid cases since its peak on April 30, as the active cases have dropped from 3,10,783 to 570. With the Covid condition in the state improving day by day, the recovery rate has climbed up to 98.6 percent.
UP break chain with aggressive testing
Scaling up the stringent testing mechanism as per CM Yogi’s target of ‘trace, test and treat’, the state is managing to break the covid chain with effective protocols in place, and by sticking to the time-tested strategy of case isolation and contact-tracing, combined with an alert community surveillance system.
The state has also emerged as a leader in terms of conducting maximum covid tests. A total of 6,76,91,677 covid tests have been done so far. As many as 2,15,474 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. On the contrary, states like Maharashtra and Kerala have tested as many as 4.95 crore and 2.85 crore samples so far.
