UP’s don-politician Mukhtar Ansari penalised by ED, his 7 properties attached

The ED questioned the 59-year old mafia last year and launched probe against him on basis of multiple FIRs lodged against him.

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday attached seven properties of gangster turned politician Mukhtar Ansari. The attached properties are primarily immovable assets and action has been taken under money laundering probe.

The ED attached his immovable properties under the Prevention of Money Laundering Probe Act (PMLA).

The ED questioned the 59-year old mafia last year and launched probe against him on basis of multiple FIRs lodged against him.

Ansari, a five-time former legislator is currently lodged in a jail in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh.
After the immovable properties were traced by ED sleuths, the probe agency provisionally attached properties worth Rs. 1.48 crore (registry value). The circle rate of these properties at the time of registration stood at Rs. 3.42 Crore.
