Uttar Pradesh: First flight takes off from Kushinagar International airport

The SpiceJet airplane landed on November 26 afternoon at Kushinagar International Airport as the first passenger plane.

New Delhi: What can be dubbed as a Golden Chapter in the development saga of the Kushinagar district, the first domestic flight service from the recently inaugurated Kushinagar International Airport commenced on Friday. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath congratulated the people of the state on this occasion.

Taking it to Twitter, CM wrote “The operation of air travel from Kushinagar International Airport has started from today. This is not just a flight of an airplane, it is a flight for the overall development of the state. What the government has said, it has done it. Many congratulations to all!”

The SpiceJet airplane landed on November 26 afternoon at Kushinagar International Airport as the first passenger plane. The passengers were welcomed by Kushinagar MP Vijay Dubey, MLA Rajinikanth Mani, Airport Director Anil Dwivedi, administration and police officials among others.

Twenty minutes later, the same plane took off with the passengers going to Delhi. The passengers credited and thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for providing this facility. About 74 passengers reached Kushinagar from Delhi by plane and same number left for Delhi.

Despite a rich cultural heritage of the place, Kushinagar was among the most backward places of Purvanchal. But after becoming the chief minister in 2017, Yogi Adityanath strengthened the infrastructure of the district and also provided it with an international airport for air connectivity and opened a new gateway of development of the entire area.

Uttar Pradesh had two international airports, in Lucknow and Varanasi, until recently. The Kushinagar airport — the state’s third international airport — was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 20.

From December 17, a flight to Kolkata from Kushinagar will be operational three days a week — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

From December 18, a flight to Mumbai from Kushinagar will be operational every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
