New Delhi: A stampede-like situation was seen in a marathon event organized by the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly on Tuesday. The marathon was organized under party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s campaign slogan ‘ladki hun, lad sakti hun’.

The assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are due for this year.

Videos of the incident are being widely circulated on various social media platforms. Visual shows hundreds of teenage girls and women tripping over and falling to the ground while running the marathon.

Those coming from the behind had to suddenly put a stop to their running leading more participants to trip over one another and fall down.

Here’s a video of the incident:

Many have reportedly been injured during the stampede. The viral videos also shows many participants and others present at the event running without their face masks or following other Covid related guidelines.

Meanwhile, reacting to the mishap, congress leader Supriya Aron said, “There is nothing to be worried about. When a stampede can happen in Vaishno Devi, these are just girls. It is human nature. But I want to apologize.”
