Yogi Govt to install 15,000 solar pumps to provide free irrigation facility to farmers

The budget also has provision for free irrigation facilities to the farmers through 34,307 government tube wells and 252 small branch canals.

New Delhi: The Yogi Government in its first paperless financial budget of the second term for the financial year 2022-23 on Thursday, announced that it would install new 15,000 solar pumps in the state to provide free irrigation to the farmers under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha and Utthan Mahabhiyan Yojana.

The budget also has provision for free irrigation facilities to the farmers through 34,307 government tube wells and 252 small branch canals. Besides, the State Government will get 2100 new state tube wells set up with the help of NABARD at the cost of Rs 423 crore while Rs 150 crore has been proposed the modernisation of 6600 state tube wells and Rs 130 crore for the reconstruction of 569 defunct state tube wells.

The Yogi Government has also given special emphasis on flood control in the budget and has proposed Rs 2751 crore for the purpose. The Government has also made budgetary provision for repairing defective tube wells.

Govt proposes Rs 356 crore for building, uplifting embankments

The Yogi Government is gearing up to accelerate construction, uplifting and reinforcement of embankments ahead of rainy season and has proposed Rs 356 crore for the purpose in the budget. The Government has also proposed Rs 1328 crore for improvement of rivers and stopping soil erosion. Furthermore, a provision of Rs 144 crore has been made for water outlets. whereas Rs 800 crore has been proposed to provide free water for irrigation to farmers from canals and government tube wells.

The Government has also made special budgetary provision for development of canals in the state and has proposed Rs 600 crore for the Madhya Ganga Canal Project, Rs 310 crore for the Saryu Canal Project and Rs 20 crore for the Arjun Sahayak Project.
