Yogi govt to unveil population control policy on World Population Day

The policy will seek to limit the benefits of state government’s schemes only to those with 2 children or less and is likely to provide incentives to people who will help in population control.

New Delhi: Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is set to unveil new policy on population control, on the occasion of the World Population Day on July 11.

The policy will seek to limit the benefits of state government’s schemes only to those with 2 children or less and is likely to provide incentives to people who will help in population control.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath has reportedly called for a community-centric approach to population control so that better facilities may be made available to the people and the state can be developed properly.

The move comes on lines of Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s announcement that the state govt will extend norms of its existing 2 child policy to prohibit those with more than 2 children.

According to reports, there would be attempts to stabilise the population by providing accessible solutions for impotency or infertility and reducing mortality rates of newborn and mothers.

The policy is also likely to make arrangements to take care of the elderly, along with providing better management, health and nutrition to adolescents between the age group of 11 and 19 years, said a govt spokesperson.
