New Delhi: Jharkhand captain Ishan Kishan sent the pulses racing for the audience as he hit off a smashing 173 runs in just 94 balls in the Vijay Hazare trophy match.

His breath-taking display of batting skills sent the social media into a frenzy. In the match against Madhya Pradesh in the Elite Group B match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Ishan whacked five sixes and 12 fours to bring up 102 runs in just 74 balls before unleashing the beast within himself.

1) Born in Bihar, now a national star

Ishan Kishan was born in Patna, Bihar on 18th July, 1998. He wasn’t serious about cricket initially but with help of his elder brother, de developed passion for the game and today he needs no introduction.

2) Quit school for cricket

If Dhoni left his TTE job for pursuing full time cricket, Ishan Kishan left his schooling for the game. As he found it difficult to strike balance between cricket and studies, he gave up schooling. Interestingly, he was studying in one of the most reputed schools – Delhi Public School.

3) Was School cricket captain

Ishan Kishan initially took time to find connect with the game but after that he went on and on. He was part of a School World Cup when he was just seven years old. He was the captain of his school during that School World Cup in Aligarh.

4) Moved from Bihar to Jharkhand

Having grown up in Bihar, the cricketer played good amount in cricket in Bihar. But, the dispute between Bihar Cricket Association and the BCCI resulting in loss of affiliation of the former. Kishan moved from Patna to Ranchi (Jharkhand) to continue his cricketing career.

6) 3rd youngest player to hit an IPL fifty

Ishan Kishan had a poor start in Indian Premiere League (IPL). Initially, he couldn’t muster good runs but 2017, in the final game of group stages, Kishan became the third youngest player (fourth now) to score a fifty in the IPL. The left-hander scored 61 off 40 balls as he gave Gujarat Lions a very good start alongside Dwayne Smith.

7) Led India to final of the Under-19 World Cup in 2016

Having captained the Under-19 World Cup in 2016, Ishan led the Team India to the finals. Under his captainship, the team went all the way to final but lost against the Windies. Kishan could score just 73 runs in 6 innings. However, his captaincy was very good as India won every game barring the final in that World Cup.
