New Delhi: If Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first term (2014-2019) had flagship objectives including Ujjwala, Direct Benefit Transfer, and the Swachh Bharat Mission, his second term in the PMO has already seen two welfare populist schemes, Jal Jeewan Mission and PM Gram Aawas Yojana dominate public opinion on the development.
The government established the Jal Shakti ministry by merging the Ministries of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation, as well as Drinking Water and Sanitation. Following it, the Jal Jeewan mission created the ‘Nal Se Jal’ plan. Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) intends to provide 55 litres of water per person per day through Stable Family Tap Connections (FHTC) to every rural household by 2024.
