New Delhi: Social media has become a hub of fake news as people post out of context material which sparks speculation and rumours. Such an incident happened recently when a video was being circulated on the social media, in the video a police officer shoots a man at point-blank range and his friend crying over his death in front of a mall. The video has now been fact-checked by an Uttar Pradesh cop who clarified on his twitter account that its part of a web series for which the shooting is going on in Karnal, Haryana.
Additional Superintendent of Police in UP’s Anti-Terrorism Squad, Rahul Srivastav shared the video on his Twitter after it triggered confusion and queries. Mr Srivastav added that after some inquiry it was found out that it is a scene from a web series which was being shot just outside a cafe in Haryana’s Karnal. Manager of the “Friends cafe” confirmed this, the officer said in his tweet.

In the video, a fight erupts between a young guy and a policeman after he pushes him. A few seconds later, policeman takes out his gun and kills the guy. After this his friend starts to shout and cry while sitting next to the body. After some shouting by both policeman and the girl, he kills her as well. And all this is happening in front of a crowd.
The video has been circulating on social media without anybody mentioning that this is not real and all the people involved in the incident are just actors.
Twitter users are commenting on the post that this video shows policemen in poor light and that such web series should be banned.

What is so special about the shooting @publicplace that too by an uniform police personnel. Prima facie both man& woman are shot by the bullet. The crimes are increasing day by day and such criminal activity is showing in public places will boost the moral of criminals too.

One user said why there is a kid being used as a background actor for such a gruesome scene
I can see some camera rigs in the corner for sure it’s for some kind of TV serial but why are kids used as background actors for such a gruesome scene. Usually people shield their kids from such violence. Poor directing and choice of background actors from assistant directors!
