New Delhi: South Korea has just recorded its highest number of Coronavirus cases in last 24 hours, in a month, triggering panic and sending the government in hyper active mode to renew battle against the pandemic.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Sunday warned citizens that the coronavirus outbreak is ‘not over until it’s over’ as it reported at least 34 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Moon cautioned the South Koreans that there can be a second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in the country anytime, so, the citizens should continue to maintain ‘enhanced alertness’ and added that people ‘must never lower guard’ when it comes to the prevention from the pandemic.

The announcement comes close on the heels of government easing some social distancing restrictions and moving to fully reopen schools and businesses, in a transition from intensive social distancing to “distancing in daily life.”

34 Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, highest since April 9

South Korea reported 34 additional cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, the highest daily number in a month, after a small outbreak emerged around a slew of nightclubs where a Corona positive patient visited.

Over past 10 days, the daily tally of new infections had hovered around 10 or less in recent weeks, with no or very few domestic cases.

South Korea was one of the worst-hit countries of COVID-19 disease outside China but it had successfully flattened the curve by recording none or very less number of cases in the last ten days.
