The joint rally is aimed at wooing the Purvanchali electorate in the national capital. Since Purvanchalis constitute a significant mass base in East Delhi, JD(U) leader’s presence will help sway the votes in saffron alliance’s favour.

New Delhi: Electioneering for Delhi assembly elections is going on a feverish pitch with BJP and AAP stepping up the offensive against each other.

It is set to gain further steam with Home Minister Amit Shah and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar addressing a mega rally together.

According to reports, Amit Shah and Nitish will address a poll rally in Burari on February 2. Nitish will also campaign with BJP President JP Nadda for the assembly polls in Delhi’s Sangam Vihar.

The joint rally is aimed at wooing the Purvanchali electorate in the national capital. A couple of faces representing Purvanchals like Ravi Kishan and Nirahua are already campaiging in those areas, with sizeable population of Purvanchali voters.

It may be noted that JD(U) and BJP are contesting the Delhi elections in alliance on 2 and 68 seats respectively. Akali Dal, having developed differences with BJP over Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), today addresses a press conference and declared support for the BJP.

Rebellion within JD(U) over tie-up with BJP

JD(U)’s alliance with BJP sparked furore within the party, with Pawan Varma and Prashant Kishor openly protesting against the move. They publicly
disapproved of JD(U)’s alliance with BJP outside Bihar, thus riling the Bihar Chief Minister.

Finally, the dissenting JD(U) leaders were relieved from party’s primary membership today.

Voting for Delhi Assembly elections will be held on February 8 and results will be out on February 11. BJP is contesting on 67 seats and has left two seats to JD(U) and one for LJP, its alliance partners in Delhi Assembly poll.
