
New Delhi: As the state gears up for Assembly elections in a month, Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal-United JD(U) today released its list of 115 candidates.
Interestingly, 11 sitting MLAs have been denied tickets by the party as new faces replace them.
Chandrika Rai, the father-in-law of Tej Pratap, who joined JD(U) recently will contest polls from Parsa Assembly seat while Lalan Paswan and Bima Bharti will fight from Chenari and Rupauli constituencies respectively.
Some of the sitting MLAs who failed to get party tickets include MLAs Kapil Dev Kamat from Babubarhi, Guljar Devi from Phulparas, Suneel Kumar Chaudhary from Benipur, Ramesh Singh Kushwaha from Jiradei, Raj Kishore Singh from Vaishali, Ramanand Prasad Singh from Parbatta, Janardan Manjhi from Amarpur, Ravi Jyoti Kumar from Rajgir, Dadan Pehalwan from Dumraon, Dhumal Singh from Ekma.
All the RJD MLAs who abandoned Tejashwi Yadav and joined hands with Nitish Kumar have been given party tickets.
3 MLAs have their constituencies altered by the party. They include Ghoshi Krishnanandan Prasad Verma, who will now contest from Jahanabad, Madan Sahni from Bahadurpur and Abhay Kushwaha from Belaganj.
The JD(U) and BJP finalized the seat sharing for Bihar polls on October 5 in which both agreed to contest on 122 and 121 sets respectively. JDU has announced 7 seats to Jitan Ram Manjhi-led HAM from its share of 122 seats while BJP has given 11 seats to Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) from its quota of 121 seats.
The JD(U), BJP, HAM and new entrant VIP will be contesting the Bihar elections under the umbrella of National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The BJP on Tuesday released its first list of 27 candidates for Bihar Assembly Elections 2020.
Elections to the 243-seat Bihar assembly will be held in three phases–October 28, November 3, and 7 and results will be decalred on November 10.
