DDC polls in J&K show victory of ballot over bullet, says BJP’s Tarun Chugh

Tarun Chugh said the way people were participating in the voting and the way celebrations were taking place overwhelmingly underlined the victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making J&K free from the terror of militants and encouraging people to exercise their franchise.

New Delhi: Braving cold weather in the valley, people came out in large numbers to cast their vote in the fourth phase of voting in DDC elections. Another 4 round of polling will take over next few days, with results to be declared on December 26.

Reacting to good turnout in elections, BJP BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Monday said that the ongoing elections clearly demonstrate that “ballot has won and bullet has been defeated”.

Tarun Chugh said the way people were participating in the voting and the way celebrations were taking place overwhelmingly underlined the victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making J&K free from the terror of militants and encouraging people to exercise their franchise.

He said that places like Shopian, Kulgam, Bandipora, Kishtwar, Doda, Ramban, Anantnag, Baramulla which were considered the hotbeds of terrorists and where people were scared to come out in the open were celebrating the democratic rights today.

He said in all terrorists’ areas today people are taking out tonga rally, scooter rally with national flag in their hands which is a slap on the face of leaders like Mahbboba Mufti and Abdullahs who have been giving calls for boycotting the national flag.

“It is a victory of the Prime Minister that turn-out during the polls has been upto 50 to 70 per cent in many areas”, Chugh said.
