New Delhi: After more than three months without anyone hitting the top prize, a person who bought a Powerball ticket in southern California has won a record-setting $2.04bn.

The winning numbers for the Powerball ticket were selected on Tuesday (November 8) in Florida’s Tallahassee: the white balls were number 10, 33, 41, 47 and 56, while the red Powerball was 10.

According to reports, the jackpot Powerball ticket was sold at Joe’s Service Center in Altadena.

So far, this jackpot is one of the largest lottery prize ever won. Previously, three Powerball ticketholders won $1.586 billion prize in 2016.

Also, only four ticket buyers have topped $1 billion, but none were close to the current prize, which started at $20 million back on August 6. In the last three months, none managed to win the jackpot.

On Monday (November 7), it was said that a jackpot was estimated at $1.9 billion but the amount was later increased to $2.04 billion on Tuesday morning after updated calculations.

The video of the winning numbers and drawings was recorded and posted on Powerball’s YouTube channel.

Individuals who choose an annuity win the e $2.04 billion prize. An annuity is paid annually over 29 years.

The game is played in 45 states, including US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Washington, DC.
