New Delhi: Covid-19 situation is turning out to be disastrous with each passing day in the national capital. The ‘monster’ Coronavirus has been spreading like wildfire in the city, with each day logging big jump in fresh cases.

In last 24 hours, Delhi recorded a massive jump in Corona cases. About 24,000 fresh Covid-19 cases were recorded in last 24 hours. Yesterday, the city recorded close to 20,000 cases. Death toll is also on the constant rise.

This is the highest single-day cases in the national capital. Delhi had reported 19,486 new coronavirus cases and 141 deaths on Friday. Kejriwal said Delhi has a limited number of ICU beds and oxygen and ICU beds are decreasing very sharply.

He said COVID-19 cases were rising sharply and the government will take necessary steps to prevent spread of the virus.

The Chief Minister said he has spoken to Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan for increasing availability of beds and increasing oxygen supply.

Close to 1 lakh Corona tests are being conducted on daily basis while positivity rate is risen to 19.69%. Close to 77,000 people were vaccinated with jabs on Thursday.

“Delhi has a limited number of ICU beds. Oxygen and ICU beds are decreasing very sharply. We are taking several steps to scale up beds capacity,” tweeted Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

This comes at a time, when Delhi has gone into weekend curfew from yesterday. All services have been brought to a halt to break the Corona Chain while exempting the essential services.

Delhi is already the worst affected city in the country, having overtaken Mumbai days back. When the financial capital has remained limited to about 8000-11000 cases, Delhi has been witnessing continuous surge in numbers.
