New Delhi: In a heart wrenching incident, a 24-year-old national-level kho kho player whose body was found at railway station was allegedly raped and murdered.
A person has been arrested for allegedly murdering a the Dalit player.
Bijnor SP, Dharmveer Singh, said that the accused has been imprisoned thrice for theft at railway station. He had strangulated the victim to death.
The police arrested the accused after an audio clip was shared by a friend of the victim, who was on call when the incident took place.
The accused has been identified as Shahzad alias Hadim, who worked as a labourer at the railway station.
After seeing her, he dragged her to the cement railway sleepers and attempted to rape her.
Earlier, Police inspected the railway track where body of a female Kho-Kho player was found. Victim’s family has alleged rape & murder.
“Hopefully, this case’ll be solved at earliest. Some persons were arrested & interrogation of others is underway,” says Shalabh Mathur, DIG, Moradabad.
